about us
Miaochan Zhi is the owner of Thousand Springs Orchard (30 acres), with 13 acres dedicated to orchard development. She grew up in a rural farming environment without electricity or running water, where her parents farmed for subsistence and sustainability. This background shaped her commitment to regenerative, zero-waste agricultural practices. Miaochan received SARE funding in 2022 and is currently constructing a 34 × 72-foot high tunnel for cultivation trials. She has successfully cultivated disease-resistant persimmons, jujubes, and figs—eliminating the need for chemical spraying. Her training includes Future Harvest Level 1 Farm Training (2017) and permaculture design certification under Lincoln Smith (Forested Farm). Miaochan has established direct-to- consumer sales channels, including chicken and duck eggs through local mom's groups, generating strong demand for fresh farm produce. She has received numerous requests to tour the farm and customer inquiries about fig, persimmon, and jujube availability, validating market interest in her value-added products.
